The scene is Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Dave Garver played by Clint Eastwood is a radio disc jockey who nightly broadcasts from his studio. One of his female fan is Evelyn Draper played by Jessica Walter, she has the habit phoning in to Garver’s radio show and asking him to play the same song every time “Misty”.
This story teaches how one evening with strangers can ruin your life. Evelyn who is demented fan of Dave has repeatedly calls into his show and asked him to play a certain song every time she rings, this song is called Misty. Evelyn trick Dave to meet up on a bar and it remains to he had to pay dearly for this experience. It turns out that Evelyn is insane fan of Dave and will soon make his life miserable, she goes to his home and make a lot of mess there as well as threaten his girlfriend Tobie Williams.
