The Space Cowboys

The story is about four hot shot test pilots from 1958. Those four men seem to be the first persons to go into outer space. The   leader of their organization disbands them to prevent their involvement in the then forming NASA and labels them as non-team players.

Until now the foursome has been living a quiet life. The navigator is a Baptist minister. The electrical engineer has a pleasant retired life in a desert home with his wife.

The pilot, who had a penchant for pushing the test planes to their limits, is now a daredevil crop-duster. Their former boss is now a mission leader in Nasa and still as despicable as in the old days. The designer is a roller coaster designer mainly for the womanizing. Here is where the story begins.

A Old Russian satellite is about to crash back into the Earth’s atmosphere and somehow American technology designed by Eastwood’s character has ended as the guiding system. Of course, because of the old technology, only the original team can save the day.

One of his female fan is Evelyn Draper played by Jessica Walter, she has the habit phoning in to Garver’s radio show and asking him to play the same song every time “Misty”.

This story teaches how one evening with strangers can ruin your life. Evelyn who is demented fan of Dave has repeatedly calls into his show and asked him to play a certain song every time she rings, this song is called Misty. Evelyn trick Dave to meet up on a bar and it remains to he had to pay dearly for this experience. It turns out that Evelyn is insane fan of Dave and will soon make his life miserable, she goes to his home and make a lot of mess there as well as threaten his girlfriend Tobie Williams.

Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman), after decades in Robben Island prison, is released 1990 and begins immediately to bring an end to the apartheid and works toward a full Democratic where the black majority population can vote. Mandela wins the race for presidency and takes place as the President of South Africa in 1994.

His immediate challenge is “balancing black aspirations with ashen fears.” The country’s still-present racial tensions are made known, in the sphere of part, through Mandela’s security team, which composes both new black and old white officials, with the groups at once hostile to each other despite sharing the same task and goal.

While Mandela attempts to tackle the country’s main problems (including crime and unemployment) he attends a game of the Springboks, the country’s rugby union team. Blacks in the stadium cheer against their home squad, as the Springboks (their history, players and even their colors) represent prejudice and apartheid in their mind.

Knowing that South Africa is ready to host the 1995 Rugby World Cup in one year’s time, Mandela persuades the South African rugby board to keep the Springbok team, name and colors the same. He therefore meets with Springboks captain Francois Pienaar (Matt Damon). Though Mandela not at all verbalizes his real importance during their appointment, Francois understands the message under the surface: If the Springboks can increase the support of black South Africans and succeed in the approaching World Cup, the country will stay unified and inspired.

“Invictus” is a Latin word and means “invincible”. William Ernest Henley wrote a short poem named Invictus in 1975. Henley was at hospital when he wrote it, and Mandela is heard saying lines from the poem.

In terms of status and stars, the film Invictus is the biggest film ever to be made in South Africa according to Laurence Mitchell, the head of the Cape Film Commission.

When the filmmakers thought of an actor to play Francois Pienaar’s they wanted to have a known British actor in that role in the beginning. They changed their mind and decided to cast a lesser-known South African actor instead.

Jonah Lomu who once was a player of the Bath Rugby team and is ahead of Rugby at Bishop Vesey’s Grammar school in Sutton Coldfield is portrayed by Zak Feaunati.

Chester Williams who himself was a player in the South African rugby team of 1995 prepared Matt Damon for his role as Francois Pienaar by coaching him at the Gardens Rugby Club.

Morgan Freeman and Lori McCreary his producing partner had been developing a movie about Nelson Mandela for years. They were trying to adapt Mandela’s autobiography in the beginning “Long Walk to Freedom” but since the story spanned many years it would be impossible to completely translates into a feature film.

A future film based on John Carlin’s book Playing the Enemy: “Nelson Mandela and the game that changed a Nation.” Maurice Castle is an aging administrator in the field of the British secret service MI6.

Maurice is married to a black African woman whom he met for the duration of his before stint in the field of apartheid South Africa and fell in the field of sweetheart with her. Right away he lives a unobtrusive life and is looking to the fore to retirement.

But nearby is a leak traced to African section in the field of London anywhere he machinery and threatens to disrupt this perilous tranquility. Along with his younger colleague Davis tell somebody to light of the ensuing post-mortem.

But once Davis is accused on circumstantial evidence and quietly “disposed of”; Castle begins to deal with questions of loyalty, morality and conscience. On the lone hired hand, Castle undertakes his day-to-day responsibility professionally, and is willing to prepare I beg your pardon? Is additional than obligatory on behalf of both Davis and his boss Daintry.

A serial killer who calls himself “Scorpio” murders a young woman in a San Francisco high-rise rooftop swimming pool. The spent shell casing which was used in that murder is later found on the roof by Inspector Harry Callahan it’s accompanied by a ransom message from the Scorpio Killer, promising more deaths if the city does not pay him $100,000.

The chief of police, along with the Mayor decides to assigns Harry to the case and arranges for extra support. At a local café while he is waiting for his lunch, Harry notices a robbery is taking place and tells the cafe owner to call the police and report an armed robbery in progress.

While waiting for reinforcements, the robbers emerge from the bank, shooting wildly into the bank, forcing Harry to act. He confronts a robber in the street, who fires at him. Harry returns fire, sending the robber to the ground. Another robber makes it into the getaway car, which the driver aims at Harry as he pulls away. Harry fires at the car, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a fire hydrant.

Harry turns back to the robber he shot earlier, approaches the wounded man, and utters his famous line: “I know what you’re thinking- “Did he fire six shots or only five?” Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I’ve kind of lost track myself. But, being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Do I feel lucky?” Well, do ya, punk? ”The next day, Callahan is assigned a newcomer partner named Chico Gonzalez. His new Partner is always getting injured while working and it is annoying Harry, but his Chief gives Harry no other option.

• Audie Murphy was first approached to play the Scorpio Killer, but he died in a plane crash on 28 May 1971 before his decision on the offer could be made.
• After Harry has foiled the bank robbery at the beginning of the film, he strides over to the one surviving robber. In doing so, he walks in front of a theatre which is showing Play Misty for Me (1971), which Eastwood directed and starred in.
• Opening sniper scenes shot from atop San Francisco’s Bank of America Building on California Street. The sniper’s target is a girl swimming in the pool on the roof of the Holiday Inn in Chinatown a few blocks north on Kearny Street.
• The final scene where Harry throws his badge in the river is homage to a similar scene from High Noon (1952).

The film opens with three boys, Jimmy Markum, Sean Devine, and Dave Boyle, playing hockey in the street. While playing, the boys find a part of sidewalk concrete that is still drying. Jimmy writes his name in the cement Sean and Dave follows.

When Dave begins to write his name in the cement a car pulls up and a man who pretends to be a plainclothes police officer gets out, scolds the three boys, and tells Dave to get in the car. Dave looks out the back window of the car as it moves away and sees Jimmy and Sean staring back at him.

When Sean´s and Jimmy´s parents hear about this they agree that something is wrong and begin to look for him. The film then cuts to Dave in the basement of the two pedophiles who took him and then to Dave running away from the house through a forest.

Twenty-five years have passed, and the boys are now grown and still living in Boston. Jimmy is an ex-con running a neighborhood store, while Dave is a blue-collar worker, still haunted by his abduction. The two men are still neighbors and related by marriage.

Jimmy has a19 year old daughter Katie whom is secretly dating Brendan Harris a boy Jimmy despises. She and Brendan are planning on getting married in Las Vegas. Dave spotted Katie one night at a local bar, but she was there with some girl friends. The very same night Katie was murdered.

• In Dennis Lehane’s novel, the surname of the characters of Jimmy and his family is Marcus, however in the film, it is Markum.
• While researching his character’s occupation, Kevin Bacon had worked in the office of the Massachusetts State Police.
• More than 2,000 people who wanted to be extras in the movie showed up at the Boston Teachers Union on 14 September 2002 for the open casting call. Carolyn Pickman of Collinge-Pickman Casting told The Boston Globe a week later that about two-thirds of those trying out would be called to fill a church and a local bar, play spectators at a parade, or walk through other scenes. The Enforcer is the third film in the Dirty Harry series from 1976 Directed by James Fargo. The film opens as two gas men are lured by a scantily-clad lady to a remote spot and killed by a guy, Bobby Maxwell.

Meanwhile, Inspector Harry Callahan and his partner, Frank DiGeorgio, are dispatched to a liquor store where a few guys have taken hostages. The standoff ends when Harry drives his car into the store and shoots up the gang.

Back at the station, Harry is reprimanded for the expenses on injured hostages and damage to the store by his boss, Captain McKay, and is transferred from the Homicide unit to Personnel.

The next day Harry is part of judging the interview process for new inspectors. Being told that 3 of 8 new positions are going to be female, including Inspector Kate Moore, who has worked in Personnel for nine years with no experience in homicide, she has never made any arrests or has never been in any violent situations.

Harry is disapproving of her potential promotion to Inspector. That night, the PRSF use the stolen gas service van to enter U.S. Army weapons storage to steal weapons in support of their political statement. Meanwhile, DiGeorgio and another police officer find a dead guard, and DiGeorgio looks around the warehouse for any suspicious activity.

He eventually finds the terrorists and holds them at gunpoint but Maxwell stabs him in his back. At the same moment he is going down, DiGeorgio shoots a female member of the gang. Despite protests of another gang member, Maxwell finishes her off and leaves DiGeorgio for dead.

Neil Briggs and his band of murderous patrol cops, and the terrorist People’s Revolutionary Strike Force. But now the aging Harry Callahan now is back on the trail of a new cold-blooded killer, who may be more dangerous than himself or any of the killers he ever faced.

Jennifer Spencer and her sister was gang raped years ago, after a female friend of the gang had persuaded them to come to a fair. The brutal rape left the sister permanently catatonic and almost vegetative. Jennifer is now out for revenge, killing her attackers one by one. In the beginning of the film, Jennifer is seen with one of the rapists named George Wilburn. It is early morning and they are together in a car when she kills him. After the murder, she leaves without a trace.

Harry Callahan in the meantime is seen in a court room where he has brought a young suspect named Hawkins to trial. The case is dismissed as a travesty because Harry did not have the right to seize the evidence used to prove Hawkins guilty. After insulting Hawkins in the elevator, Harry goes to his usual coffee diner and orders the usual black coffee.

The waitress tries getting his attention by pouring massive amounts of sugar into his coffee and Harry, who is reading a newspaper, does not notice. As he walks out, he takes a sip of coffee and spits it out in disgust. As he returns to complain, he sees that the open signs were switched to close. A robbery ensues but Harry goes in the back way and confronts the would-be robbers. He calmly tells them that “we” aren’t going to let them get away with this.

Who are we? “Smith, Wesson, and me,” says Harry, drawing his Smith, and Wesson and dispatching three robbers with four shots. One, only grazed, is left alive. He grabs the waitress as a hostage, but Harry points his .44 Magnum handgun at him from five feet away and utters the immortal line “Go ahead, make my day.” The police arrive moments later and the robber meekly surrenders.

• Although Clint Eastwood made the phrase “Go ahead, make my day” famous, it was originally used a year earlier by actor Gary Swanson in the movie Vice Squad (1982). Swanson, who played a Hollywood vice cop, said the line, “Go ahead scumbag, make my day,” to actor Wings Hauser, who played a pimp, during a bust.
• Body count: 18 (including Threlkis).
• The movie’s line “Go ahead, make my day” was voted as the #6 movie quote by the American Film Institute.
• The famous “Make My Day” sequence was filmed at a Burger Island restaurant in San Francisco. It is now a McDonald’s.

• The scene where Callahan chases the robber in the senior citizen bus was filmed at and around the Pacific Garden Mall in Santa Cruz, California. • The handgun used by Harry Callahan, the .44 automat, was extremely difficult to acquire. The studio eventually went to the gun’s designer who, although retired, had enough parts in his basement to build two guns for the production. They were serial numbered “Clint 1″ and “Clint 2″. One was modified to function with blanks for use in the film; the other was left in its original configuration so that Eastwood could fire it at a pistol range to familiarize himself with its function.
• The reason the film was made at all had to do with a survey. Warner Bros. was preparing to release the Sean Connery James Bond film Never Say Never Again (1983) and they took a survey. They asked movie goers to name an actor and a famous part that actor played. Clint Eastwood as “Dirty Harry” scored so high in the survey results; the studio told Eastwood it would be “open” to distributing another “Dirty Harry” film. Eastwood made this film as a result of that meeting.
• Clint Eastwood is seen wearing Gargoyles sunglasses, which would later surface in The Terminator (1984).
• The carousel Jennifer is researching is the “1911 Looff Carousel” located at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz,California. In 1987 the U.S. Park Service declared the ornate merry-go-round a National Historic Landmark along with the Boardwalk’s 1924 Giant Dipper roller coaster.

Joe Kidd is an American western film from 1972 starring Clint Eastwood and Robert Duvall and directed by John Sturges. The film is about an ex-bounty hunter hired by a wealthy landowner named Frank Harlan to track down Mexican revolutionary leader Luis Chama fighting for land reform.

Don Stroud also makes an appearance. It forms part of the Revisionist Western genre. Clint Eastwood stars as Joe Kidd, a stranger who arrives in the New Mexican town of Sinola, where Mexican revolutionary Luis Chama has organized a rustic revolt against the local landowners, who are throwing the poor off land that rightfully belongs to them.

When a posse, financed by wealthy landowner Frank Harlan is formed to capture Luis, Kidd is invited to join but prefers to remain neutral. Harlan persists and Kidd finally relents when he realizes that Luis’s band has raided his own ranch and attacked one of the workers.

The posses capture five Mexicans hostages and threaten to kill them unless Luis surrenders to them. One of the hostages is the attractive Stella Garcia and Kidd falls in love with her.

Harlan notices this and throws Kidd in jail to prevent him from helping Stella and the Mexicans, but he escapes and saves the Mexican hostages, determined to capture Luis himself and see that justice is done. But when Kidd captures Luis and delivers him to Sheriff Mitchell, Harlan is in town waiting for him.
